Throughout my career as an educator, parent and school leader, I have sought many opportunities to connect my students with the world; nurture them to be peacemakers and global citizens in a world full of disagreements, dissension and violence. I have brought all my learnings to my classroom, continued to educate my school communities and collaborate with other schools across the world, to enrich, nurture and empower all American students to be global citizens.
So, if global education is a must for all children, what have you been doing to contribute to this goal, in your school communities, since?
For more than 20 years, I had the passion and commitment to gain global experiences and learning to educate my students. One of the most distinct experiences that I have been opportune to be a part of, was to earn this grant and travel to Africa and engage, collaborate and work with other school communities. Here in South Africa, students crave for a globalized community; where all children and adults exchange smiles and handshakes; learning and sharing the struggles of post-apartheid and mending the fences that separated them from others, for many difficult years. Learning and Serving the United States and every military branch and civilian agencies in articulating our values, here and overseas. Here is another opportunity that allowed me to serve locally and globally, a role in working with the National Language Service Corps (NLSC) of the US Department of Defense.
I was invited to present and share my experiences from Africa at one of the Los Angeles City schools in a high-density school community in South Central, Los Angeles. I took a personal necessity day to share my learnings and build capacity for another school, so they can also grow and empower their children.
As a Global Learning advocate and community collaborator, I was appointed to serve as a Global Goodwill Ambassador for Linked In, a business and professional organization on social media. I proudly accepted and continue to serve and share my experiences and expertise with others globally.

Science has a great impact on each of us, whether we’re passionate about it or not. Our modern society wouldn’t have looked the way we know it if it wasn’t for science.
Think about it. Everything around that has made life easier for us exists because science made it possible.
From the gadgets you use everyday, to cars, buildings, medicine — we owe it all to some curious and brilliant minds that helped develop or invent things that today we take for granted.
Imagine living with no electricity, no means to travel long ways, no cures to help us treat the most common diseases that killed so many people in the past. And all of these don’t even begin to cover the good that came with the evolution of science and technology.
