Dr. Conrad Ulpindo has been a school leader and research scholar for much of his career. Throughout his service to Los Angeles public, private and charter schools, he was an advocate for global education and international studies. He always believed that internationalizing education and nurturing our children to continue to articulate the goals of freedom and democracy, preserve the values of peace and global order as one of the critical missions of education of the 21st century. Here, he believed in enriching the friendship and camaraderie among educators and school leaders across the world, learning and sharing information will adequately prepare all children, to engage each other, and foster unbreakable bonds and relationships. Every summer, fall or spring, Dr. Ulpindo has competed with other global scholars to earn scholarships to learn and share his experiences across the world, from Germany, Greece, South Africa, England, The Philippines, Korea, Japan and beyond. If NOT us, who? If not here, where? and If NOT now, when?
I was a very young man when I earned a Foundation Scholarship competing with like-minded ambassadors across the world. This opportunity ignited my enthusiasm to keep learning and demanding much of myself as a researcher, traveller and leader.
Cancer Prevention has been one of the gaols I ahve set in my research iin the town of Asahikawa in the Hokkaido Prefecture during my scholarship. Here, I studied how natural and organic chemicals interact when influenced by neurotransmitters from food in their mitochondrial DNA.
HIV prevention research focuses on developing and improving methods to prevent HIV transmission. This included developing vaccines and other preventative medications like PrEP, promoting safe sex practices, and ensuring access to testing and treatment for HIV.
The US and South Korea Foundation selected American professionals to bridge the gap of mutual research and understanding and also sustain the friendships of both countries and their communities across a spectrum of projects and programs.
Part of my research was on cell signalling: Cell signalling is the mechanism by which stimuli are transmitted via a signalling cascade to effector molecules that orchestrate the appropriate response. Types of cell signalling pathways include checkpoint signalling, lipid signalling, growth signalling, nutrient signalling, insulin signalling, stress signalling, morphogen signalling, Hippo signalling, and TOR signalling.
Global exchanges allow us to actively engaged in diverse fields, with notable work in areas like magnetism, flavor enhancement of cultured meat, breast cancer research, cancer immunotherapy, drug testing, energy conversion, obesity studies.
Serving the Western Coast of the US, I work as a Southwest Liaison with all government and private agencies to communicate and bridge all organizations to solve problems, i.e., Covid-19 response, Fire and Emergency Disasters, and FEMA -related support services in a cross-spectrum of needs and services.
As the Southwest Liaison Lead, I work with the largest team in the United States! The National Language Service Corps (NLSC) is a congressionally authorized Department of Defense program that provides support to all government agencies and private organizations to facilitate communication and connections.
Leadership is never about positions and degrees, it's about giving what you can, serving in a capacity that you are able and just showing up to offer anything to anyone!
The world will always be different, oftentimes difficult and challenging but with patience and profound sincerity to understand their narrative, connections can be a bridge to make everlasting friendships and profound relationships.
