For our Virtual Mental Health Assembly, we are excited to welcome a distinguished group of guest speakers:  Dr. Heber Marquez – Mayor and advocate for community wellness and youth empowerment. Todd Leitz – Sports announcer who speaks on perseverance and mental resilience. Carolina Gaitán – Actress and singer, known for Encanto, who promotes self-expression and emotional well-being.  Together, they bring powerful perspectives to support student mental health and growth.

Mental health awareness also means taking care of ourselves and building a sense of purpose. Wanting to go beyond awareness, our team took on additional “side quests” focused on student empowerment.

One group led a voter registration drive in partnership with The Civics Center, helping students understand the importance of having a voice in their community. Another group organized a literacy campaign, where teachers read to students and shared access to online books available to them.

Both efforts were centered on empowerment, giving students the tools, confidence, and connection they need to support their overall well-being and mental health.
