Events Held in the Library
See what happens at Portola throughout the year!
The Connecting Cultures Mobile Museum is a three-week exhibit designed specifically for middle schools. Their mission is to inspire "respect and understanding for cultural diversity by exploring global arts and artifacts", and they visit Portola every year!
The Scholastic Book Fair is a tried and true school fundraiser that gets students excited about reading! Each Spring, during the Renaissance Faire and Portola's Open House, our parent volunteers put on an incredible Book Fair for everyone to enjoy!
Come meet Principal Tapia each month for coffee and a treat Friday mornings at 8:30. Meet fellow Portola parents, talk about what's happening on campus, student issues, and parenting workshops.
Formerly Battle of the Books, this "club" is formed by student teams of avid readers! Student teams read 25 different books each year, and practice every week in Spring to prepare for the regional competition against other middle schools in the district.
The California Junior Scholarship Federation (CJSF) is a state-wide a statewide organization that aims to foster scholarship, service, and citizenship in middle school students. The club is student-run and open to all 7th & 8th grade students who are eligible.
One of the oldest running clubs at Portola, students meet and compete at lunchtime on Fridays, playing matches, speed chess, practicing strategies and openings, and having good ol' strategic fun! Open to all students.
