MRS. SILVERSTEIN’S PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in History from UCLA - 1985 (Go Bruins! 🐻)

• Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from California State University, Northridge – 1987

Teaching Experience

• 1987 – 1994: I began my teaching career teaching 5th grade at Hubbard Street School in Sylmar, CA

• 1994 - 1997: I came to Welby Way and taught 5th grade in the resident school.

• 1997-2000: I moved to third grade for a year, then worked at a half-time position teaching fourth grade at Welby Way.

• 2000-2002: I moved to the Welby Way Magnet program and taught 5th grade for two years.

• 2002-2007: I taught 3rd grade in the Magnet program for 5 years.

• 2007-2008: I became the Math Coach for Welby Way and Balboa Gifted Magnet.

• 2008 - 2009: I returned to the classroom at Welby Way Magnet and taught 5th grade.

• 2009 - present: I came back to 3rd grade in the Magnet program, and I stay because I love it!

• 2020: I became a National Board Certified Teacher, specializing in Middle Childhood education!
