Absences/Make Up Work
Please EMAIL me on the day your child is absent with the reason for the absence!
Policy for Accepting Absent Work
When a student is absent, I leave all work on the student's desk with a list of instructions.
Students have the same number of school days to make up the work as they are absent. I will not ask for the make-up work. Students will need to take responsibility and turn it in.
Parents may request for classwork and homework to be sent to the office or for a sibling to pick up from our classroom. However, requests need to be made by 12:00 PM. Otherwise, I cannot guarantee I will have the work ready to go.
If no requests are made, or if requests are made too late, students will get the work when they return to school. However, if a student is absent for more than one day, I recommend picking up the work so they are not overwhelmed when they return to school.
If a student leaves school early, the same policy above will apply.
THIS POLICY APPLIES ONLY TO EXCUSED ABSENCES. Please read the difference between EXCUSED and UNEXCUSED absences below.
Difference Between EXCUSED and UNEXCUSED ABSENCES
EXCUSED
Absence due to illness, medical appointments, and pre-approved absences (such as religious observances). Forms for pre-approval are in the school office and must be approved by the principal before the absence occurs.
Per District policy, students will only be provided with make-up work due to EXCUSED absences
UNEXCUSED
Absences due to trips or other non-approved absences.
(Even with a note, these absences are considered UNEXCUSED.)
Per District policy, make-up work is not provided
Tests and assignments missed due to UNEXCUSED absences receive a score of 0
