Hi!
I’m Mrs. Curley. I have been teaching elementary school since 1994! Wow, where have the years gone? I received by BA from Mount Saint Mary’s in Brentwood, California, and my Teaching Credentials from California State University, Northridge. Not only was I originally a student teacher at Welby Way, but I have taught my entire career at Welby Way Elementary, except for one year I taught at Woodlake Elementary in Woodland Hills, California. Before I was a teacher I worked as a legal secretary and personal assistant to an actor in the Television and Film Industry. I have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 4th grade. I was the grade level chair for 4th grade for many years, but I decided I needed a change! So, I returned to teaching 3rd grade when my own son was in 3rd grade, and I love it! My 3rd grade team is so incredible! I am so lucky to be part of such an incredible school!
I live with my husband, Steve and our two beautiful children. My daughter suffers from a rare metabolic disorder so she has spent her school career in special education. My son is your typical teenage athlete, always on the move! My daughter Ava is 19 years old and my son, Hunter is 18 years old. My daughter has special needs and goes to a special post-secondary program. My son is beginning his first year at Moorpark College, where he will be playing on the baseball team. He is also excited to be exploring universities where he can both continue his baseball career and study his major.
When I’m not at school, or grading papers feverishly at home, I’m having fun with family and friends. I absolutely love to spend time in the kitchen! Cooking is one of my favorite things to do. Not only do I love cooking, but I adore entertaining, playing with my two dogs, Bailey and Bruno, reading (if I have any time at all), walking and listening to music! If I’m not cooking, or helping my kids with homework, you will often find me watching my son play baseball, taking Ava to swim practice for the Special Olympics or just sneaking in a moment to watch a favorite show on television. I love spending my summers going to the beach, visiting my family in Boston, traveling, having barbecues, hanging out by the pool, and enjoying time finding fun activities to do with my family.
I am so excited to start the new school year!!! I am wishing and hoping for a healthy and happy school year!
