OVERALL SCORES: You may check your scores in each subject in Google Classroom.
Go the Google Class you wish to view.
Select Classwork
Select View your work (upper left above Important Links)
You will see the overall percentage you are earning in that subject.
You will see a list of every assignment and the score you earned.
If there is NO score or the score is 0, it is actually a missing assignment. You need to complete it.
If there is no category assigned, it means I do not count the work toward your overall grade. For example, the beginning of the year Reading Assessment has no category, as it was just for me to assess where you started at in reading comprehension.
View Individual Graded Assignments
(How to See What You Got Correct/Incorrect on Your Work)
Go back to the assignment box inside the class.
Select View Assignment. To see what you got correct/incorrect, you will need to open up YOUR actual work. You will see YOUR work inside a smaller box on the right side AFTER you have selected View Assignment. (If you do not select View Assignment, you will only see a blank document with no answers or you will get a message that you have already completed it.)
If an assignment is a Google Document, I often highlight sections and add comments to the right side. Please read the comments so you can see how to improve your work for the next assignment. The points earned for each question and any other comments will also be posted.
Google Forms will show you point totals and correct/incorrect answers for each question.
After the due date has passed and I score an assignment, I move it to the "Graded Work" category in each class.
If you wish to review an assignment that has already been scored, you will find it in this category.
If you need to complete a missing assignment after the due date, look for it in this category.
Missing Assignments
I will give the assignment a score of 0, write a comment that it is incomplete, and send it back to you.
For 1 point assignments in IXL and Zearn, I will give only 0.5 points if you do not MARK AS DONE.
If you complete the assignment after I give you a 0, I will look at it and give you the score you earn. But I will not remind you to complete it. (Exception: For IXL and Zearn not marked as done, I do not change the 0.5 to 1 point.)
If the due date has passed, you will find incomplete/missing work in the "Graded Work" category for the class.
I return work to you in a timely manner. So if you are checking your grades regularly, you will see if you are missing something.
If you check your scores on a phone, you will not be able to see the comments. It is better to use a laptop or computer to check your scores.
The phone may limit the information you can see about each assignment, like how many points it is worth overall.
If I attach a rubric to a Google Assignment:
The rubric shows the number of points each section is worth and how many points you earned.
You can click on each section of the rubric to see what you were asked to write and how I determined points.
If I made any comments about certain sections, those comments will be found either to the right of the question/section or at the bottom of the rubric in the "Private Comment" box.
Why are some answers on my Google Form assignment marked RED when I got them correct?
This happens with answers where you have to type sentences or write out equations.
The Google Form will only mark it GREEN (correct) if you type the EXACT words and numbers in the EXACT order as the answer key.
I read your answers. If you get it correct, I give you all of the points for the question. If you get it partially correct, I give some of the points. If no part of it is correct, I give 0 points.
Even if I give you ALL of the points for the question, it will stay RED, which makes it look like it's wrong. Therefore, you should look at the POINTS I gave you.
Accelerated Reader Scores
I look at your percentage accuracy each month in AR. I count this accuracy towards your Reading Comprehension GRADE.
However, you will always keep the AR points you earned for prizes and Club Levels!
IF YOU EARN 10 POINTS FOR THE MONTH
I give you a score out of 100% that counts toward your Reading Comprehension grade.
This score is based on your overall PERCENTAGE achievement on quizzes for the month, NOT the number of points you earned.
For example:
If you earned 10 points and achieved an overall 85% accuracy, I give you 85 percentage points. If you achieved an overall 97% accuracy, I give you 97 percentage points.
IF YOU DO NOT EARN 10 POINTS FOR THE MONTH
I take 10 percentage points away for every point you are missing.
For example:
If you had 85% accuracy but earned only 4 points, I give you 25 percentage points (85% - 60% because you were 6 points short).
Certain categories in Google Class may have a long list of graded work. If you are unable to find a graded assignment or test, the list may just be too long for your computer screen to show everything.
Click View More (can be located at the top of the list or at the bottom of the list) and you will see the whole list of assignments.
