If you're feeling well enough, go to Schoology to see what we did in class and complete the assignments. If you are absent for one day, then you have one extra day to complete the assignments, if you are absent for three days, then you have three extra days to complete the assignments, and so on.
Try to complete as much of your assignments as you can. You may also contact a classmate for an explanation or help with the assignment before you return to school.
Once you're back in school, remind me that you were absent and check If there is anything else that you need.
In general, you will take your assessment the day you return to school. If you've been absent for an extended period, you MUST ask your teacher for an appointment to get additional time and help to get caught up (unless we have discussed some other arrangement).
VERY IMPORTANT: It is YOUR responsibility to ask for assignments you missed when absent and/or to make up assessments. Failure to do this can result in you getting a ZERO on the missed assignment and/or test/quiz. Remember that all assignments and assessments are published on the Schoology calendar.
If you are dealing with bullying or other issues with peers and need an adult to help work through what's going on, let me know. If there are bigger issues going on, let me know. I’m here to help you. Also, our school counselors are fantastic human beings, and I can help you connect to them if you need extra support.
If you're struggling in class, message me.
You might get frustrated sometimes, but it’s totally normal, because struggling is a necessary part of how our brains learn. Please don’t give up. And NEVER worry about “looking dumb”. Successful students take risks, ask questions, and keep trying if something doesn’t make sense. “Smart people” aren’t born magically smart. They seem that way because they have learned that being “smart” means being brave and working hard. Don’t be afraid to struggle at first, don’t be afraid to make mistakes, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
