Who is Mr. Miller?

Mr. Miller is the school's teacher librarian. Teacher librarians are first and foremost teachers. They have teaching credentials in subjects such as English, math, social studies, and science. Mr. Miller has his teaching credential in English. Then, they earn an additional credential to be a teacher librarian which Mr. Miller also did. Teacher Librarians learn how to help students access, evaluate, and use information effectively, efficiently, and responsibly.

Mr. Miller has been teaching in the Los Angeles Unified School District for 21 years. He has taught English at both the middle school and high school levels and has been a teacher librarian at two other schools.

Mr. Miller has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from California State University, Northridge; as well as a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration from the same. Besides a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English and a Teacher Librarian Services Credential, Mr. Miller also has a Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Credential in Business and Finance and Child Development and two supplementary teaching authorizations in Computer Concepts and Applications and Introductory Mathematics.

What does Mr. Miller do?

Mr. Miller not only manages the library, but he teaches lessons to students on topics such as research, information literacy, and digital citizenship. Mr. Miller is also the the school's webmaster and yearbook adviser.

Mr. Miller lives with his wife, Mariela; daughter, Abigail; dog, Enzo; and his guinea pigs, Bella and Fiona in Simi Valley. He likes spending time with his family and friends, going to the movies; and, of course, reading young adult fiction.
