Objective: Students will explore Caribbean dance movements as a means of physical fitness

Lesson 2: Create your own Zumba Style Dance

Big Idea: Movement can be organized to create dances.

Objective: Students will use the What’s Your Name sheet to choreograph their own Zumba style dances

Assignment

Write your first name the long way on a piece of paper

Use the What’s Your Name chart to find your moves

Write your moves next to each letter in your name

Perform your dance to a song of your choice

Lesson 3: Pop Locking

Objective: Students will freeze in shapes and sequence shapes to create their own Pop Locking Dance.

Assignment:

Fold a piece of paper into 8 squares and number it 1-8

Choose your shapes from the Pop Locking poster

Draw your shapes largely in each box

Practice your dance

Lesson 4: Beat

Big Idea: Movements can be organized to create dances.

Objective: Students will practice movements while keeping a steady beat and learn a basic line dance.
