LJMS
Join our fun and creative summer camp
July- August 2026
8:00-3:30pm
Extended Day 3:30-5:00pm
Now entering its 14th year, the LJMS Summer Musical Theatre Program offers an immersive, seven-week performing arts experience for students ages 5–15 in Southeast Queens. Each summer, up to 50 young artists come together as a unified ensemble of actors, singers, and dancers to bring a fully staged musical production to life.
Campers engage in comprehensive training centered on a complete theatrical production, including daily rehearsals with costumes, props, lighting, and sound. Students receive instruction in acting, vocal performance, dance, and stage presence while also learning about the technical elements that make a show possible.
These workshops are thoughtfully designed to nurture and elevate each student’s natural creativity and artistic strengths. Through structured exploration and guided practice, students are given meaningful opportunities to grow, take creative risks, and develop confident self-expression.
Our 50-minute classes create a welcoming, collaborative environment where students can build meaningful friendships with peers who share similar artistic interests. Through group learning and ensemble activities, students develop social connections alongside teamwork, communication, and a strong sense of belonging within the arts community.
Our students have performed all Broadway Junior versions of: Seussical, Into the Woods, Mulan, Shrek, Once on This Island, The Little Mermaid and more!!
Throughout the summer, guest teaching artists join the program to share professional insight and expose students to diverse artistic perspectives. Participants also take part in cultural enrichment experiences, including a trip to one of New York City’s renowned museums.
This collaborative environment builds performance technique, teamwork, discipline, and confidence. By the final curtain call, students not only shine on stage—they leave with stronger skills, lasting friendships, and a deeper appreciation for the power of the arts.
