Dear Sancho Parents & Carers,
As we come to the end of the year, we would like to make a special mention to Sancho Year 11 students who have amazed us with their resilience and ambition during their GCSE examination period. It has been an absolute pleasure to see our older students set an example to the rest of the college. We look forward to seeing them on GCSE results day on August 24th.
Lower down the school, our younger years have been working hard to live by our values and to engage positively over social media and in person, which has been at the forefront of our conversations with students as a college. Students in KS3 have positively taken on the challenge of being more mindful of how they communicate with others, showing our key value of Integrity. We are pleased to say that Sancho College are still leading the way with the most merits received.
As an International Baccalaureate school, all of our Y9 students take part in a Community Project to actively change their immediate environment for the better, developing their respect for the area they live in and the people who reside in it. A special mention goes to Cassie, Sasha, Olivia, Sara, Shekinah and Faith, in 9B, who have really impressed their LAB Learner teacher with their project.
We truly believe that attendance is a key factor to your child’s success, both at GCSE-level and in later life. We appreciate your efforts in ensuring that your child attends school regularly. Sancho attendance up to this date is 91.6%, which in the last term has gone up by 0.2%.
Our final celebration breakfast of the year took place on 20th July. It was great to be able to have a representative from each form there for those that have had the most improved behaviour or attendance throughout the year.
Finally, as you may now know, I will be leaving LAB at the end of this Academic year. It has been a pleasure to be the Head of Sancho College and to work with the young people in this small school community. I’d like to thank the parents and carers that have engaged with me to support the students both academically and pastorally. I wish you and your child the best in the future.
Best Wishes,
Mr J Ritchie
After 5 years at LAB, I will be leaving at the end of this academic year to continue pursuing my passion for languages. I have no words to express the care and love I have for all the members of our school community, with whom I have enjoyed working with closely over the years. I will miss all students in the academy but, in particular, those students who have been in my care in Sancho College. I wish you all families and students a bright future.
Best Wishes,
Ms R Garcia
