Dear Airy Parents & Carers,
It has been wonderful these past two modules to see such a wide range of co-curricular activities taking place in the school and Airy students being at the forefront of these. The Art, DT and Computing exhibition; the Oliver Production; the LAT and LAB Sports days, and LAB Lit Fest demonstrated that we have many extremely talented students in Airy college who continue to surprise us with their dedication and commitment. Please do see the curriculum pages for more information on these events.
We would like to mention the incredible conduct of our Year 11s in Airy during their GCSE exam period. At the time of writing, their final exam has just taken place. Year 11 Prom will be a highlight of the year to so many students and staff. We would like to thank Nuala for all of her ongoing efforts to support the organisation of Prom: including organising a food bank collection for a local charity. Thank you to the incredible Year 11 tutors (Ms Gough, Ms Coupe and Ms Abdi). We look forward to seeing you all on results day in August.
Some of our founding students wrote a message to their tutors, which we felt worth sharing:
Miss Gough is a supportive tutor who put a lot of effort into my references for future schools. She inspired me to choose GCSE History in year 9 and my passion for that subject has continued and I intend to study it at Sixth Form. I've known Miss Gough for 3 years and it's been nice to have stability with a tutor. I hope any student who is lucky enough to have her as a tutor respects how much work she puts into our future. Thank you.
To Ms Coupe and Ms Abdi,
Thank you for all your hard work as our tutors.
Thank you Ms Abdi for your help during exams, for the guessing flag games as well, and to Ms Coupe for being our tutor throughout years 10 and 11, especially when helping with sixth form applications and work experience. It was amazing to have you both as our form tutors. Thank you
Looking forward, we would like to congratulate our new year ten prefects: Emmanuel and Maksym who we have already seen working diligently to support the LAB community.
Airy college has a huge number of students who demonstrate continual scholarship by ensuring they are working hard in every lesson.
This year, Airy has a total of over 30,000 merits.
We would like to give a special mention to our students with the top five highest merits for this term:
Harry
Isla
Maya
George
Cindy
Sumaya
Namrata
As we all know, strong attendance is vital to ensuring great outcomes and a good school experience. We are pleased with Airy’s overall attendance and the ever-present incremental improvements being made in this regard. Airy college attendance ends the year with a year to date attendance figure of 91.5%, which continues to be above national average. We are extremely proud of our students who have worked hard to ensure they are regularly attending school. A huge well done to 7C who have the highest attendance in Airy.!
Airy tutor group attendance figures:
7C = 94.83% 8C = 92.60% 9C = 90.83% 10C = 91.36%
7F = 92.05% 8F= 91.40% 9F = 93.34% 10F = 92.19%

We wanted to give a huge well done to Dante in 9F as he recently took part in a fantastic 5K foamy fun run. He raised an impressive £250 for Demelza children's hospice.
We're proud of Dante‘s achievement and dedication to such a wonderful cause.
"Nina is extremely helpful, supportive of the children, especially as we are coming to the end of the year and the children are getting very excited. She is very hard working and always on time. She is a credit to LAB"
"Yanam is showing keenness in learning new skills. I find him quite enthusiastic in learning the trades."
We have been incredibly proud of the feedback we have received for so many of our Airy Year 10 students during their work experience. Below are just a few highlights of feedback we have received.
"Francesca has been an absolute delight to have here at London Bank, she has been keen to learn, listened to all that has been asked of her and is an absolute credit to her family and peers.
I sincerely wish Francesca huge success in her future career aspirations, I am sure she will be an amazing medic."
In addition to merit totals, it is important that we recognise conduct points. Conduct points are the total number of merits vs demerits.
Tutor group conduct points:
7C = 4607 8C = 2715 9C = 1819 10C = 696

Over the summer holiday, we are aware that students may be engaging with social media groups even more and whilst we are unable to monitor social media on students' phones, we have had a number of parents ask for support with this. You may find the following resources on the National Online Safety site useful to also support these conversations at home. All parents are encouraged to sign up to access resources and courses via the following link:

As we come to the end of another Academic year we are sad to say goodbye to some members of the Airy community. Miss Roberts (the tutor of 9F), and Mrs Khatun, Coordinator for Computing. We would like to say a huge thank you to them both and we wish them all the best for their future. You will all be missed by everyone at LAB . We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Smith for all of his continued support and commitment in Airy over the past three years, as he takes on his new role of Assistant Principal in Sancho college.
We hope that you will enjoy the remainder of the term and the Summer holidays!
Ms Lindars and Ms Philips
