We have combined two things which we love at Oaks: exercise and our link with Starfish Malawi!
Pupils and staff are on a mission to run the distance to our link school in Malawi by the end of this academic year!
To support pupil (and staff) wellness and health, everyday, classes are encouraged to take a break from learning indoors and go for a walk/jog/run outside! The distance that each pupil travels is collected, and input into our spreadsheet, tallying the total metres/kilimetres/miles which we have travelled so far! Currently, we have made it to Lille, in France and a postcard just happened to arrive from there on Friday to the delight of pupils!
From the photo, you can see our map display. There is green string showing puplis how far we have run to date, and the orange string shows (as the crow flies) how much further we have to travel!!
Look at the photos below to see Year 5 supporting Nursery with a walk/jog in the sunshine and also year 1 running around the field during PE!
We continue to share our learning regularly with our link school, as well as receive updates from them.
Recently, we shared a video of us singing our new song H-E-L-L-O and we are looking forward to hearing pupils in Malawi sing this and send their video back in return!
