Community Cafe spent last week clearing up the community garden located by the pedestrian gate to prepare for winter. Children also cleared up the outdoor classroom area and the ground where the bike shed is. It is amazing what a difference this makes to these spaces and we are so impressed with the commitment and passion from pupils to keep their school grounds looking well.
The group's next job will be to plan a new design for the community garden space and work on creating this over the winter months so that it is ready and beautiful for spring!
Our school currently holds a Level 4 Gardening Award from the Royal Horticultural Society and pupils are looking forward to earning their Level 5 award this year!
Not only will this community garden space be something that our pupils can be proud of, but it will also be a lovely space which the community can enjoy.
We were honoured to be asked by Reverend Joyce of St Martin's Church to provide artwork for the first Canterbury COP 2023 which was held recently in Canterbury Cathedral.
Reverened Joyce visited school on Thursday to return pupils' artwork and to thank them for their contribution to this event. Pupils' work was viewed by more than 130 people at this event, meaning their messages written and drawn about the importance of sustainability have had a far-reaching impact. Learning is all about taking action - what will you do with what you know - and we are so proud that our pupils put their learning to great use to raise awareness.
