Math 7 Accelerated Main Topics
Semester 1
Rational Number Operations: Major content will be applying and extending previous understandings of operations with fractions.
Real Numbers: We will only do the first few lessons of this chapter. We can revisit, if time allows at the end of the year.
Analyze and Use Proportional Relationships: Major content will be analyzing proportional relationships and using them to solve real-world and mathematical problems.
Analyze and Solve Percent Problems: Major content will be analyzing proportional relationships and using them to solve real-world and mathematical problems. (Seeing percents as proportions)
Generate Equivalent Expressions: Major content will be using properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions.
Solve Problems Using Equations and Inequalities: Major content will be solving real-life and mathematical problems using numerical and algebraic expressions and equations.
Semester 2
Solve Problems Involving Geometry: Major content will be drawing, constructing, and describing geometrical figures and describing the relationships between them AND solving real-life and mathematical problems involving angle measure, area, surface area, and volume.
Analyze and Solve Linear Equations: Major content will be understanding the connections between proportional relationships, lines, and linear equations AND analyzing and solving linear equations and pairs of simultaneous linear equations.
Use Sampling to Draw Inferences About Populations: Major content will be using random sampling to draw inferences about a population AND drawing informal comparative inferences about two populations
Probability: Major content will be investigating chance processes and developing, using and evaluating probability models.
Congruence and Similarity: Major content will be understanding congruence and similarity using physical models, transparencies, or geometry software.
Solve Problems Involving Surface Area and Volume: Major content will be solving real-world and mathematical problems involving volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres
