About Mrs. Torres

Carolyn has been teaching for over 30 years. She received her doctorate in 2020. Carolyn has remained a National Board Certified Teacher since 1995 when National Board Certification began. She has been an active mentor, teacher, and math coach. She was the 2014 New Mexico State Teacher of the Year, a 2017-2020 Voya NNSTOY STEM Fellow, a national NSF Coalition of Essential Schools Fellow, a Master Teacher for the New Mexico Electronic Bridge Project, a Founding member of the Education Plus Academy Charter School & ParentReadingCoach.org, a NMIS Champion, and Exemplars Ambassador. She co-authored a 3rd grade online math curriculum for Lincoln Learning Solutions. Her four children all attended Chamisa. Her hobbies include painting with a variety of media.
