Hello I am Aedin Loychik and I will be teaching 5thn grade ELA this year.
I have taught in four states and many different grade levels as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and specialist. I have taught in urban, suburban, and rural districts in both public and private schools. I double majored in elementary education and psychology in undergraduate and have a Master's in curriculum and instruction with a focus on integrating technology into schools. I enjoy working with our younger learners and watching them work through their thinking and creativity.
In K-2 we do whole class weekly thinking skills lessons where we learn about many different ways our brains think including: our detective (logic) brain, scientist brain, inventor brain, magician brain (visual part of our brain), judgement brain, and storyteller brain. I also run extension groups in these grades. In third grade gifted students focus on social emotional learning and project based learning using the 8 gifted strands: self understanding, interpersonal skills, thinking skills, creativity, interest development, communication, independent learning, and achievement.
