Hello Barranca Mesa Families!
I’m so excited to welcome you to another great school year at Barranca! This will be my 16th year as part of the Barranca community and my fourth year serving as Assistant Principal. It’s been a joy and privilege to work alongside Principal Martines—her dedication to our students, families, and staff is truly inspiring, and I continue to learn so much from her leadership.
With over 30 years of experience in elementary education across two districts—Grants/Cibola County Schools and Los Alamos Public Schools—I bring a deep commitment to student learning, staff support, and creating a strong, connected school community. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Western New Mexico University and my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Multicultural Studies from New Mexico State University. I hold a Level III Instructional Leader license, a TESOL endorsement, and became National Board Certified in Literacy: Reading–Language Arts in 2012.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to teach grades 1 through 6, mentor new teachers, lead Student Assistance Teams, and support classrooms through collaborative, project-based learning approaches. I value authentic connections, and I believe that by supporting teachers in all areas—from curriculum to leadership to wellness—we can create a thriving, student-centered environment where everyone feels seen and supported.
Outside of school, I love staying active and grounded through running, hiking, and getting lost in a good book. I’m also a lifelong animal lover and have had the joy of rescuing 10 dogs over the years. My husband and I currently share our home with two of them—Russell and Ella—who are full of personality and bring so much joy to our lives.
I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the Barranca team and this amazing community. I look forward to continuing to grow as both a learner and a leader, and I’m excited about all that we’ll accomplish together this year.
Here’s to a wonderful school year ahead!
Warmly,
Audrey Juliani
