Reading Newsletter

Welcome To The Second Reading Newsletter!

Dear All,

Welcome to our second edition of the Lark Rise Reading Newsletter. I am delighted to share this with you. We hope that you will find it a useful way to hear about our developments in reading in school and also to offer ideas and suggestions of how you can support your child with reading at home.

Please have a look at the Book Recommendations page. These have been carefully chosen to help you select books for your children on a variety of themes and from some authors you might not have come across yet. Some of the books are very recently published so why not give one a try? They also make lovely gifts and as they are categorised by age, it's easy to find a suitable choice so maybe have a look and see if you can get ahead with your Christmas shopping!

This half term we are lucky to have had a Q&A with Anna McQuinn who is also the author of 'Lulu's Sleepover' on the Book Recommendations page. She is an inspirational author and has some lovely words for us all about the importance of reading. She writes fabulous books for young children about some of the experiences they have such as starting school and having a new sibling.

If you click on the 'More' tab at the top of this page, you will also find our Reading Roadmaps and this term's winners of books from our 'Reading Robot'. The Reading Roadmaps show the book journey that children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 will take this year. I am sure you will agree they are a delightful way of seeing the books that have been carefully chosen for the English curriculum.

We are continually thinking of new ways to raise money so that we can buy enough copies of all the key texts for each class to use. If you have any suggestions or would like to help with donations, please get in touch.

Kind Regards,

Mrs Victoria Smith
