Weekly Update for 3/23-3/27

Wednesday 3/25:

This week, we have been continuing with three activities:

  1. Error analysis
  2. Syntax surgery
  3. Preposition game

I also posted the packet "Commonly Confused Words" to Google Classroom (4th Period ELD). It is under the "Grammar" section as a Google Doc on which each student can type. Students may begin working on it right away, doing one to two pages per day as practice. (Don't rush through it.)

Important announcement: The State of California has decided not to have students take the ELPAC this year; anyone who already has taken it in years past will wait until next school year to do it again. We will continue to do activities related to the ELPAC in preparation for next year, which also can improve overall academic performance (in other words, our ELD activities can help with Science, Math, History, and English). So, keep showing up to our online classes that are held on Zoom!

Monday 3/16:

First of all, hello to my English Learners (and families)! I created this tab on my website so that there is a place just for information regarding our ELD class. Tomorrow (Tuesday 3/17), we will meet at 12:30pm on Zoom. Just like with science, we will be continuing your education by doing activities and assignments for ELD online until we are allowed to resume regular school operation.

This week, we will do the following activities:

  1. Share circle (practice speaking and listening!)
  2. Grammar packet: "Commonly Confused Words"
  3. ELPAC practice
  4. Error analysis
  5. Syntax surgery
  6. Preposition game
  7. BrainPOP (possibly)

The link for our class tomorrow is on Google Classroom. See you at 12:30pm!
