It’s going to be an artful learning exciting year for our youth. I look forward to working with all the youth that enter Dwight Rich School of the Arts doors in person and / or virtually.
This dance program seeks to nurture students as movers, thinkers, creators and performers as students investigate and experiment with movement, learn the fundamentals of dance technique, explore various dance styles, build and choreograph dances, and present and perform their learning for others. Dance builds creative thinking, problem solving and collaboration skills. Learning through movement allows students to build kinesthetic connections as they experience the world around them, while encouraging a creative outlet for expression.
Visual- Teacher/ Student Demonstrations
Media- Youtube Videos, Powerpoint Presentations
Reading- Whiteboard Instruction and Reading Activity
Writing/ Drawing/ Coloring- Journaling or Activity Worksheet
Tactile- It is sometimes necessary for the dance teacher to use physical contact in order to show a correction or adjust alignment. Depending on COVID guidelines
It is the practice of the dance program to use video and photography for education purposes. This creates a learning opportunity for students by allowing students to see themselves dancing and to analyze their movements.
