History

Year 3 pupils have been learning about lifestyles from the past and comparing them to those today. We have focused on hobbies from both the past and the present. The classes were very excited to share what they enjoy doing outside of school and we reflected on this and thought about what could have been available in the past. We used this knowledge to create a Venn diagram to show what we had learnt.

3. Enlightenment also changed thinking

Year 4 pupils investigated the discovery of water-based diseases. This was a huge change in our thinking as, before this bad air (Misisma) was always thought to be to blame. Following this discovery it became possible to do something about it.

John Snow discovered that water pumps were responsible for cholera and shut them down. Following this, the Clean Water Act was passed meaning that Britain never need suffer from cholera again. We also still use John Snow's methods of disease mapping today to keep ourselves healthy.

Year 5 pupils have investigated Roman Crime and Punishment. They then used their research to create non-chronological reports.
