Cookery Corner

It has been lovely to see some of our pupils trying new food in the lunch hall this week. It is always exciting when a child tells you they haven't tried something before and are giving it a go. It is even more rewarding when they discover that they love it!

Super Simple Stir-Fry

(Serves 4)

Ingredients

1 pack baby sweetcorn, halved lengthways

300g button mushrooms, sliced

1 pack sugar snap peas

1 pack bean sprouts

1 pack of stir fry vegetables

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp runny honey

1 pack dried egg noodles, cooked as per instructions on the packet.

Method

  1. Prepare the vegetables and sauté them in a little oil, in a large pan or wok, for 5 minutes

  2. Add the bean sprouts and sauté for a further 5 minutes

  3. Add the soy sauce and honey

  4. Prepare the noodles and add them to the vegetable mix

  5. Serve either on its own or with some meat or fish

This is by far the quickest and easiest meal that the children love helping to prepare and cook. Thank you to Mrs Dunn for inspiring this week's recipe.

Cooking Club

This week in cooking club the children tried something a little different by creating their own healthy cereal bars. We saw a variety of cereal being used and an abundance of dried fruits. All seemed to enjoy it and one pupil has told me that they have even tried it again at home!

Next week they will be making crumpet pizzas.

Big cook, little cook

If you and your children enjoy cooking, please share your own recipes and photos with us through the contact us email (contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk) and we will add as many as we can to our Cookery Corner.

We have seen more cooking from our year groups this week. Our Reception classes made a delicious Gruffalo crumble! Year 3 pupils made their own healthy sandwiches and the children in Year 4 have taken over the DT room with the most amazing looking pizzas. Well done to you all, the teachers are very proud of the effort that all of the children have put into cooking activities this week!
