Social Studies

This week, to show how great we are at social studies we have chosen the area of learning that best show our geography, history or RE skills.

Year 3 pupils have explored different religions, we have been able to compare these religions by collecting the information we have learnt and putting this into a table. We have used this to help us think of communities we are a part of and we have reflected on how these make us feel.

Year 1 pupils went on a walk around our local area this term. Following this, the children returned to the academy and drew a map of the walk and what they saw. This supported them with writing their recount.

History of health

In Year 4, the children have been writing about what we have learned about health over time. Pupils have produced some fantastic work!

History essay

Year 5 pupils have been learning about rights and responsibilities and how these have changed over time. We found out how these changes affect our understanding of rights and the link to human rights. We noticed that in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that Article 22 said that people have the right to a safe home. We also noticed that this wasn't the case for everyone.

We decided to fundraise for a Maidstone homeless charity that supports young people by creating Halloween treats which the pupils have sold across the academy today. We will have more new on the success of this next week.
