Principal's Message:

This term is now in full swing and we are now looking at our end of year events and activities.

Year 6 have started their rehearsals for their end of year production. This is always such a lovely milestone in the academic year for the school as it is a great send off for our oldest pupils as they move on to their next chapter of their journey.

Year 1 have all completed their Phonics Screening this week. While we need to wait for the DfE to officially release the threshold for the screening, we are confident that the children have absolutely smashed it this year. A huge well done; we can't wait to share their results by the end of the year. Massive thanks to the Year 1 team in supporting our pupils in becoming very competent readers and a special thanks to Mrs Dunn who leads on this for the school.

I had the pleasure of accompanying Year R on their school trip to Build-a-Bear and Gravity. What an amazing day they had! Every single child, without exception, behaved impeccably and had an absolute blast. To quote Ralph from Discovery Class, it really was "the best trip EVER". I'm not sure who enjoyed Gravity more; the adults or the children! A massive thanks to Miss Gilbey and Ms Kunaseelan for making this possible for our children. It's no mean feat to organise a trip, let alone one for 60 4-5 year olds. Special thanks to our parent helpers who were a real help on the day.

Please continue to keep an eye on the Key Dates section for upcoming events.

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss S Brading

National Online Safety Guide

WhatsApp is the most widely used messaging platform on the planet, with over two billion users (forecasted to become three billions by 2025) across more than 180 countries. The majority of these people (70%) open the app at least once a day, but what exactly are they seeing? Contact from strangers, fake news and convincing scams are all among the service's well-documented hazards.

According to Ofcom, WhatsApp is used by more than half of 3-17 year olds in the UK despite it having a 16+ age restriction, and one in three users is between 8 and 11 years of age. If your child has WhatsApp to stay in touch with friends and family, the updated guide below contains the key details you will need to support them in using it safely.

Contacting the class teachers:

If you have concerns that you would like to raise with the academy, please do so via the office email address which is contactus@langleyparkprimaryacademy.org.uk. Upon receipt, your email will be directed to the relevant member(s) of staff.

We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.

We are also aware that some parents continue to email staff directly. In the event that this happens, staff have been asked to forward your email to the aforementioned email address to resume communication via the correct channels.
