Year 4 have linked their French learning with this week's Sports Day. They have been learning the vocabulary for different sports and the children have been discussing their favourite sports in French.

Melrose have been focusing on French phonics this week; a really important part of learning how to understand and speak French. While some sounds used in French are the same or similar to those in English, there are others that are different - and some that are quite hard to say for many English speakers! Melrose have thought about the sounds in the words as they have practised the vocabulary for the months of the year. They have also practised using an alternative keyboard in Languagenut to write words that include graphemes we don’t use in English, such as those with accents.
