It has been a chilly week here at Langley Park so we have been having to wrap up warm!
You may have noticed the absence of our chickens. Given the location of the academy being so close to the industrial estate, we have unfortunately had some furry visitors to the site who we do not want to continue to encourage. Not only were the chickens encouraging these visitors, they were also getting quite stressed out about them. This has meant that we have had to make the difficult decision to rehome them for their wellbeing. Fortunately, a member of staff knows someone who runs a local farm which was perfect for our beloved chickens and, whilst we feel very sad about this, we are happy that they can continue their lives stress-free.
This week, it has been all things arty! On Tuesday, we held an art workshop for children to take part in that was run by Art-K. The children created their own masterpieces inspired by Gillian Ayres.
We are also excited to be running our own art competition relating to the Learner Profile Attributes. Please have a look on MCAS for the details. Please ensure that your child's entry is in portrait format and A4 otherwise we won't be able to frame the winning pieces to be on display within the academy.
And finally, we have been so inspired by our Year 6 representatives rendition of 'Proud' by Heather Small that we are going to adopt it as our school song. It would be wonderful if you could play the song to your children at home and really listen to the lyrics as they are really meaningful!
Next week, we will be into December - can you believe it? This means that there are going to be lots of events coming up so please take note of key dates so that you don't miss out on anything.
Have a wonderful weekend and wrap up warm!
Miss Brading
We are fortunate to have a toilet that can be accessed by parents, carers and children that do not attend our academy should this need to be used at drop off and collection times. This toilet, however, is frequently being left in an unacceptable condition which results in it having to be closed to professionals and other visitors to our academy until this can be rectified.
Please can we kindly ask that if you or your child(ren) use the visitors toilet in the reception area, it is left in the condition in which it is found and which is acceptable for the next person to use.

With Christmas now only a matter of weeks away, millions of families are excitedly anticpating the chance to spend some quality time with each other over the festive period. When everyone is engrossed in their phones or glued to their games consoles, however, genuinely meaningful moments with loved ones can often be difficult to orchestrate.
The below guide will lend a hand, providing some advice on helping young people to set aside their devices for a while and live in the moment. Even if going full tech turkey feels unrealistic, implementing just a few of these tips could still significantly decrease the amount of screen time in your home this Christmas, enabling everyone to make the most of it.
We respectfully ask that you address any concerns or issues with your child's class teacher in the first instance. If it remains unresolved then your concern will then be escalated to the Key Stage Lead and/or Mrs Neame, Vice Principal. In the unlikely event that it continues to remain unresolved, it will be escalated to Miss Brading at that point.
