Throughout my years of art I always drew in a sloppy sort of way. I would come up with an image (that's not very clear mind you) and I would always plan big things first, and then I just draw. My only tools are pencils and erasers. I don't really have anything that inspires my work, I just think of something really random. Whenever I do take inspiration I just look around and I would find it. My goals are to simply improve. My painting was very sloppy. Though it may look good, the process isn't all that cool. My painting is kinda what I imagined, when I started painting I will use what I have learned from this painting.
I chose to make a painting of the 40th United States President Ronald Reagan (1981-1989). I titled the painting “Prosperity” since the two terms of Reagan’s presidency lead to the end of the cold war, lower taxes, lower regulations, and millions of jobs created not to mention the state of American society becoming more conservative with great traditional values of virtue and decency. Reagan helped his party (the GOP) win back the senate and the house of representatives during his presidency. I painted Reagan different shades of blue to signify his perseverance and vigilance over the problems that the American people were facing foreign and domestic. Ultimately, I hoped to capture the great grip he had on American society and on modern American history.
I drew lilly pads for to reasons #1 I love nature and the outdoors, but especially water. Second my favorite color is green so when I put them together I thought of lily pads. I enjoy making this art because mistakes are hard to make, If you drip some paint on paper it can be made into something else.
My artwork is about a night in the city and how the sun is setting. In my artwork I use 3 elements: color, line, and shape. I used a lot of color because I had to mix with some shades. Lines because the buildings are outlined. The horizon of the sunset. Last but not least, is shapes because the buildings are shapes. My artwork is made from pencil and paint. Also, I needed to use my pencil to sketch first then I got the paint to mix colors, and last a paint brush to paint. I live in the city, so I thought it would look cool to paint a night in the city. I think that when you look at it you feel peace vibes because it is chill and it is not saying look at me. Then it is calm and in peace. My art goal was for it to look normal and cool and for it to look the same as the reference picture. I thought it was going to look like I messed up, but it looked good. Also, I was thinking that I was going to paint in the wrong spot with the black paint. That is all for my statement.
