Painting

“Untitled” by Allison Immel

For my painting I did a wave, supposed to be similar to the famous “Under the Wave off Kanagawa”, but it turned to look more like a regular wave. I went for bright shades of blue, green, and pink. The media of art I used was tempera paints. My goal was for it to look pretty, I think it's alright. I learned that painting detail is harder than it looks. I thought my final piece would be more detailed, while I was painting I learned there was no way it's going to be super detailed.

“Ginger” by Madelyn Stoltzfus

I call this art piece “Ginger” because it is a painting of my hamster, Ginger, who died from old age not too long ago. I used a lot of color to show the bedding in the hamster cage and I mixed oranges and reds and other colors to make a tan/brown color for her fur. I made this image in memory of my hamster because I love her and I miss her so much. She was my best friend and she was always there for me. I want to keep her in my heart forever.

“Untitled Painting” by Feben Ashagre

I drew a sunrise and the colors together, which are orange and yellow. They blend in together. When I wanted to draw the sunrise, I knew that I needed to set the mood. So when I created it, I tried to set a happy, calm mood. I really wanted the colors orange and yellow to blend in, I think that my painting is fine. It looks cool.

“Untitled” by Araceli Reeves

For my art work I focus on shape and color. So for the shape I tried to focus on an oval and a rectangle shape. Because it was a pointe shoe and the shoe itself has a block so when you go up on point you create a rectangle or a square so that's what I tried to do a little bit more because it's your base.

Then for color I did pink of course because the shoe is pink, but I did all shades of pink I did light, dark and inbetween. The bottom of the shoe is the darkest part, so I wanted the top part of it to be one of the lightest. Dancers usually wear tights and that is a really, really light pink so people think it is off white, but that was one of the hardest colors to make because it was the lightest so I had to keep adding white and white and white until I got the color I wanted. Then for the background I want to do another type of pink so I went with peach so I added pink and orange. I thought I would have enough to make the whole sheet and I knew I wouldn't make the same color or fill the sheet so I just went with a blue. I felt like blue would make the pink pop out and it did. I like the results and I am proud of my work.

“My Dog Obi” by Elijah Lehman

My artwork is a painting of my dog. I decided to paint him because he means a lot to me. He always makes me feel happy when I'm sad or he's always there to give me company if I'm alone. The title of my painting is called My Dog Obi. Some of the most obvious elements in my artwork are watercolor, oil pastels, and pencil. Some tools and techniques i used to do this painting was using a light pencil line and then going over it with oil pastel, I used the oil pastel because oil and water don't go well together so the color stays inside the oil pastel and doesn't run out. My work expresses happiness because my dog always makes you feel happy. I think I could've done better, the color isn't right and neither is the shape. I think if I would have worked longer on the painting it would have looked much better. I learned that not all pieces have to be perfect, if they look perfect to you and you like it, then keep it, if you could've done better maybe try again, and think about your mistakes from last time, and learn from them. This piece will definitely influence my future artworks. From now on I'm gonna look at my mistakes and learn from them, not just ignore them and finish when I'm not happy with the piece of artwork I've made.
