0590 Full Year – 4 Credits

Open to Grade 12 4 periods per day

Year 2 courses include:

· Structural Systems

· Plan Reading

*Construction Trades Capstone (optional 2 additional credits)


Prerequisite: Construction Trades 1


This is a two-year program. The junior class will work in the lab at Lakewood High School. Students will focus on new home construction and remodeling. At the completion of the program, successful students will be certified in the core curriculum of NCCER (National Center for Construction and Education Research), with the opportunity to receive additional credentials with the CITF (Carpenter’s International Training Fund) Career Connections certifications. The second year of the Construction Trades program is designed to provide skill training in: home remodeling and new home construction, with an emphasis on carpentry. In the senior year students will do construction projects in the West Shore district area.

Students are required to purchase their own tools, work boots, and safety glasses.

Students will have the additional opportunity in the *Construction Trades Capstone course to receive credit for both in-school and/or out-of-school learning experiences.

College Credit Possible - Student must fulfill requirements of the college

Internship Opportunities (paid or unpaid) - Work experience 2nd semester senior year, 15 hours per week in a related occupation.

Apprentice Opportunities may be available.
