New to a Chromebook? Here are some tips:
If you are being blocked by the filter on sites you can normally get to, see this page for how to refresh the Chromebook settings.
When you first get a Chromebook, it probably will need to be plugged in and charged.
When you open the lid, it should boot up and try to connect to wifi. If you are not near the school network, you will need to choose your wireless network and (if necessary) enter the password for it.
Students can only sign on the Chromebook using their lakevillefalcons accounts. If you don't know their account, please see this page and contact their teacher if the page doesn't help.
The Chromebook probably will need to download updates at first and more updates will come every two weeks. The update will download to the computer automatically. You can keep using it while it does.
When an update is ready, the device should give a message saying you can restart to update. It’s recommended to restart at that time, so you have the latest software.
Make sure you know how to scroll and right click on a Chromebook:
They are fast for simple online use.
Most of the time they boot up in less than 10 seconds.
Most issues can be solved by restarting the Chromebook.
They work great with Google Apps like Docs, Slides and Classroom and all of those are great for use in school.
They are half as expensive as a Windows laptop.

Use two fingers as shown to scroll up and down and even left and right on a web page.
Tap the touchpad once with both fingers to do a right click.
These are two things you should always try when you are having problems with Chrome (or a Chromebook)
To check for updates:
On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top right, look at More (the three dots in the upper corner).
If an update is pending, the icon will be colored:
Green: An update was released less than 2 days ago.
Orange: An update was released about 4 days ago.
Red: An update was released at least a week ago.
To update Google Chrome:
On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top right, click More (the three dots in the upper corner).
Click Update Google Chrome.
Important: If you can't find this button, you're on the latest version.
Click Relaunch.
To clear the cache:
On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top right, click More . (Three dots)
Click More tools and select clear browsing data.
Choose All time for the range.
Select Cached Images and Files.
Click Clear data.
