If you plan to take a concurrent credit course next year for college credit, you must have the appropriate ACT or Accuplacer cut score to enroll in the course.  See the flyer for more detailed information.

The ACT will be given to all juniors in February.  It is a state-mandated exam; registration is not required, and there is no cost.  The scores from this ACT may be used by colleges to determine admission and scholarship eligibility, and will count for enrollment in concurrent credit courses, as well.

ACCUPLACER Next-Generation

    • Math/Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, Statistics (QAS) - 264

    • English/Writing - 256

Required test scores for NPCCA courses can be found on the crosswalk beside each program of study. They are slightly lower in all programs except the Health Services program. 

The ACCUPLACER Next-Generation Exam will be given one day each semester at Lakeside free of charge.  Watch for sign up information via parent square.

A state scholarship covers the cost of tuition (ACCESS to Acceleration (A2A) Scholarship).  Lakeside will cover the cost of books. 

Award Amount & Funding

• Rate: $65 per semester credit hour.

• Limits: Covers up to 15 credit hours per semester, with a maximum of $2,000 per academic year. 

Continuing Eligibility

• GPA Requirement: Must maintain a 2.50 GPA in your concurrent courses (high school grades do not count toward this GPA).

• Failing/Withdrawing: Failing or withdrawing twice from a single class revokes eligibility for that specific class. Falling below a 2.5 GPA after two semesters revokes the scholarship. 

• Challenge Scholarship Impact: For graduating classes of 2028 and later, A2A hours paid out will be subtracted from your future Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship eligibility in 30-hour increments (up to 29 hours used without reduction).

COURSE PREREQUISITES

• Composition II – Prerequisite: ENG 1113 - English Composition I* with a grade of “C” or better.

• World Literature – Prerequisite: ENG 1123 - English Composition II* with a grade of “C” or better

• Trigonometry – Prerequisite: Appropriate placement score or MATH 1123 College Algebra* taken previously with a grade of “C” or better.

• Introduction to K-12 Technology – Prerequisite: Basic computer skills or CIS 1023 Introduction to Computing* recommended.

• Spanish II – Prerequisite: SPAN 1103 Beginning Spanish I* with a grade of “C” or better or two years of high school Spanish with a grade of “C” or better.

• Chemistry for non-majors – Prerequisite: Completion of LAD 9111 Math Essentials with a grade of “C” or better, or eligible for enrollment in LAD 9082 Math Reasoning Review 2 or LAD 9072 College Algebra Review 2 based on placement test. It is highly recommended that the student has already completed, or is concurrently enrolled in a college-level math class.

• Anatomy & Physiology – Prerequisite: Eligible for enrollment in ENG 1113 English Composition I* without pre-college level corequisite course.
