District Guidance Plan

MISSION STATEMENT

To provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program that enables all students to function as independent members of our society. Our professional school counselors provide individual, group, and programmatic counseling support specifically designed to maximize student potential and academic achievement. We work in partnership with other school personnel, parents, guardians, and the greater community: addressing the academic, career, and personal/social developmental of all students. The school counseling program is comprehensive in scope, preventative in design, and developmental in nature, ensuring that all students in the Lake Placid School District have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills to become life long learners.

THE DISTRICT GUIDANCE PLAN

New York State Education Department (NYSED) requires that each school district write and publish a district-wide, K-12 guidance plan. Specifically, the district guidance plan "shall present program objectives, which describe expectations of what students will learn from the program; activities to accomplish the objectives; specification of staff members and other resources assigned to accomplish the objectives; and provisions for the annual assessment of program results" NYSED 100.2(j)(1)(iii).
