What Do I Need To Know About Transcripts?
If you apply to a college, that college will require a copy of your high school transcript before they accept or deny you. While you can access a current transcript through Infinite Campus, colleges and universities will not accept a transcript unless it's officially sent by your high school. This is the responsibility of your counselor. All efforts will be made to send your transcripts in a timely manner.
Please note that the majority of your transcripts will be sent to schools through Scoir. There are, however, a few schools who notoriously do not accept transcripts this way. Johnson College and military academies, are two examples. Your counselor will know what to expect for these schools and you can follow the same directions below for them.
How Do I Send My Transcripts To Schools?
There is no official "requesting" of transcripts at Lakeland. Because our students utilize Scoir, the process is actually quite simple.
In Scoir as you're exploring colleges and programs, you'll notice four different categories: Suggested, Following, Applying, and Applied. On the "My Colleges" page, all you need to do to get your transcripts sent to a school is move that college from the Applying column to the Applied column. There will be a couple of things that you need to fill in for each school, and once you hit save it will alert your counselor that a transcript is required by sending a notification that documents are in need of being sent.
Please do not move a school from Applying to Applied unless you have ACTUALLY applied to that school! If your counselor gets a notification, it means your transcripts will be sent. Sending transcripts to schools that you have not yet fully applied to can make you look bad and decrease your chances of getting into that school. You can access step-by-step directions about how your transcripts get sent to colleges by clicking the link below.
What Else Do I Need To Know About Transcripts?
The information above is specific to sending initial transcripts to schools. Some schools will request that you send them mid-year grades as well. If requested, mid-year grades will be sent some time in February and will include updated GPAs as well as current grades for the classes you're taking during senior year. If a school requires mid-year grades, please let your counselor know when you receive the notification. Final grades will be sent once you've graduated only to the school you are actually planning to attend. Your counselor will know which school to send this to based on the answer you give on the End Of Year Senior Survey. Students do not have to request that their final transcripts be sent to colleges.
Many applications will also require a Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR). You can learn more about this in the section below.
Self-Reported Academic Records (SRAR)
The SRAR requires students to self report all courses that have been taken throughout high school. This includes the course name, course level, credits earned, grade earned, and yearly GPAs. Students can access all of this information by viewing their unofficial transcript in Infinite Campus. To do that, log into Infinite Campus, click on "Documents," and then choose "LHS Transcript."
At times, you will be able to enter SRARs into one application and then use it for multiple schools. The Common App is one of the places where this is the case. At other times, you will have to enter grades in more than once. It can be a bit tedious, but it's all part of the process. Stay organized, and you'll be alright!
