Types of Writing:

Narrative- short story, description, dialogue, fictional narrative, friendly letter, autobiographies, personal narratives

 Informative- Procedural compositions, compare/contrast essays, cause/effect essays, research reports

 Opinion-Essays, problem/solution composition, persuasive letter and essays, editorials, response to literature, persuasive arguments, response essays, journal entries, summaries, informational essays 

 Language Arts: 

Our typical novels are  Wonder, Shiloh, Crash,, and Freak the Mighty. These are subject to change. We will also read other popular 5th grade novels as a read aloud for fun! We will work on guided reading, academic choice centers, reading fluency and small group instruction as well.
