What are Proficiency Scales?
Proficiency Scales are the guiding documents that all teachers use in all courses. These help shape our instruction, assessments, and feedback for students.
There are four main sections to a Proficiency Scale and each serves a specific purpose.
The goal for students is to be a 3.0 on a Proficiency Scale once their learning on that learning target is completed.
The 4.0 is not required to be obtained by all students. This is an opportunity for learners who want and are ready for advanced application of learning.
This tool allows students to see where they are at in their learning progression, be aware of why they are learning this skill, and provides the end goal for their learning.
