What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapy focuses on helping students to become more independent in their daily “occupations,” and for our preschoolers, those tasks include self-care, play, pre-academic activities and social skills. We work to assure that students are developing in areas such as fine-motor, visual-motor and self-regulation skills that help to promote full engagement with school tasks. This stay-at-home time for preschoolers can provide great opportunities to develop these skills in the course of normal daily activities, and the occupational therapist can help provide guidance and resources for structuring routines and activities to best promote skill development.
