The Central High School Music Department offers a comprehensive, inclusive program designed to engage students at every skill level. Our curriculum includes seven ensembles—three choirs, two bands, and two orchestras—along with additional classroom offerings in music theory and modern band. Students can also join a wide range of co‑ and extra‑curricular groups such as show choir, pep band, jazz band, and chamber ensembles. Serving more than 300 students—about one‑third of the school—we provide regular performance opportunities, community partnerships, festivals, and travel experiences that broaden musical and cultural horizons. Our mission is to develop independent, lifelong musicians: students gain technical skill, leadership, and creative expression that many carry into college programs and adult music-making. There is a place for every student here—whether they’re picking up an instrument for the first time or preparing for advanced study—and we’re proud to nurture talent, curiosity, and a lasting love of music.
