Mock Trial

What is Mock Trial?

Mock Trial is a competitive team activity in which students simulate a real trial. Teams consist of six to twelve students in the role of an attorney or witness. The case alternates between a civil and criminal case every year. Students receive their fictional case problem at the end of October and must work to develop their roles. They then compete at a regional tournament against other Wisconsin high school students in February for a chance to qualify for the State Tournament in March.

Mock Trial is a challenging activity that involves impromptu speaking, critical thinking and writing. Students learn to work under pressure and form persuasive arguments. Even if a student does not want to pursue a career as a lawyer, mock trial teaches skills that can be utilized in a variety of areas. All that said, we still have fun and work to succeed as a team.
