Education Specialist Program
•The Education Specialist Program was established in 2007. The program was established by DCFS, in part, to advocate for children involved with DCFS as well as to partner with school districts and Children Social Workers (CSW) to work together to support the educational success of youth in foster care.
•The Education Specialist Services Program utilizes the services of education experts (Education Specialist) to assist CSWs, parents, caregivers, youth, Education Rights Holder (ERH), and authorized DCFS staff with navigating the educational system which our youth in foster care are enrolled in and to assist school staff with navigating DCFS. These services ensure the educational needs and rights of youth involved with DCFS, are addressed and that they receive and have access to academic assistance, educational resources, programs, services, and benefits.
