My World Watercolor Painting Lesson

Students created a painting with images that show what is most important in THEIR world.

Painting Content: Illustrate what is most important in their world using different types of lines, colors, and shapes (¨Their world¨ is clearly represented in the foreground, and solar system in the background).

Painting: Paint NEAT (not too much water, stay in lines, no white gaps) and COMPLETE. Paint in the Post-Impressionistic style of Vincent Van Gogh.


Self-Collage Lesson

Students created collages with words/images that show who they are as an individual; expressing what makes them unique.

Georgia O’Keeffe Botanical Painting Lesson

Student Artist Objectives:

Student can:

  • State and write some facts about Georgia O’Keeffe, her style of art, particularly her flowers, and why the up close viewpoint was classified as modern or abstract.
  • Examine an image or object in greater depth and detail by taking a closer look.
  • Create large scale paintings and drawings of flowers/plants in the style of Georgia O’ Keeffe.

Mexican Alebrijes Ceramics Sculpture Lesson

  • State and write about the history and characteristics of alebrije sculptures by Pedro Linares Lopez.
  • Design his/her own alebrije sculpture demonstrating knowledge of form, bright colors, and pattern.

Nigerian Dance Sculpture Lesson

  • State and write some facts about the country of Nigeria; their culture and art.
  • State and write about the characteristics of paintings by Ben Agbee and sculptures by Yinka Shonibare.
  • Plan and create a paper mache sculpture in an energetic pose that is free-standing and looks good from all sides.
  • Plan and construct (Nigerian inspired) patterned fabric clothes for sculpture to neatly wear.

Eiffel Tower Selfie Impressionist Watercolor Painting

Student Artist Objectives:

  • State and write about facts about the country of France; their culture and art.
  • Draw the Eiffel Tower using different types of lines.
  • State and write about the characteristics of Impressionism and the paintings of Claude Monet.

"Unity Totem Pole Lesson"

Student Artist Objectives:

  • Learn some cool facts about the country of Canada; their culture and art.
  • Learn how to draw a totem pole using PATTERN (Repeated shapes, lines and colors)
  • Successfully work with team of different grade levels, concentrating on their work to make sure that it is UNIFIED by theme, pattern and color; and colored NEAT and COMPLETE.


“Northern Lights Canada Landscape Drawing Lesson”

Student Artist Objectives:

  • Learn some cool facts about the country of Canada; their culture and art.
  • Learn about the artist Vincent Van Gogh and some of his landscape paintings.
  • Learn how to draw a landscape drawing with the illusion of SPACE: details in the foreground, middleground, and background.
  • Demonstrate the use of SIZE, OVERLAPPING, PLACEMENT and LINEAR PERSPECTIVE to give 3 dimension.
  • Successfully concentrate on work to make sure that it is colored NEAT and COMPLETE using bright colors.
