Homework Policy
Philosophy
We prioritize the holistic development of our students, which is why we do not encourage repetitive, mechanical homework or assignments that overly emphasize rote memorization. The core philosophy behind our school-based homework policy is centered on “meaningful homework.” We aim to ensure that while students engage in effective learning, they also have ample time to participate in activities such as reading, exercising, and bonding with family and friends, promoting a well-balanced and healthy development.
Purpose of Homework
For students, meaningful homework helps reinforce what they’ve learned in class, extend their learning experience, and allow them to track their own progress, fostering independent learning skills. Moreover, homework can serve as preparation for upcoming lessons, enabling students to be well-prepared for new topics. For teachers, effective homework provides insights into students’ learning challenges, allowing for timely feedback and adjustments to teaching strategies, thereby promoting more effective learning.
Types of Homework
Teachers design a variety of homework assignments based on students’ progress and make use of technology to enhance learning. These assignments include tasks such as videos, presentations, preparatory work, study reports, reading aloud, group projects, reading, and writing. These diverse forms of homework not only reinforce, extend, and prepare students for learning but also continuously develop their skills in expression, problem-solving, independent learning, communication, and collaboration.
Homework Assessment
In addition to teacher grading, our homework assessments may also include self-evaluation, peer review, and parental feedback when appropriate. This multi-faceted approach provides students with comprehensive feedback, enabling them to reflect on their performance and improve throughout the learning process.
