Aubrey Rose Apps

Hi everyone! My name is Aubrey, I am one of the Project Coordinators of the Nogojiwanong Youth Climate Action Hub. I am in my final year at Queen's University in the Global Development Program. Through my education as well as growing up on a farm, I have become passionate about climate action/justice. Coordinating this project is important to me because of the role youth play in striving for more equitable and sustainable futures for all.

Chloe Lapensee

Hello! My name is Chloe and I am the Resource Centre Facilitator at the Kawartha World Issues Centre (KWIC). I am also one of the Project Coordinators of the Nogojiwanong Youth Climate Action Hub. Outside of my work with KWIC, I am a student at Trent University in Environmental Studies and International Development. Coordinating this project has allowed me to pursue my passion for both environmental and social justice while keeping a focus on our local community, here in Nogojiwanong.

Jesmi Rajan

Hi everyone! My name is Jesmi Rajan and I am a BA Psychology student at Trent University, Peterborough. My interests include climate change and community involvement. In the past, I have had the pleasure of learning under several environmentalists who expanded my knowledge of current global climate issues. This encouraged me to take more initiatives for climate change and practice sustainability.

My other hobbies include sketching, reading, spending time outdoors and always trying to find more ways by which I can make a positive difference. I am grateful to KWIC for providing me with a team with incredibly passionate members, and for giving me the opportunity to help get more people involved in learning about climate change.

Rahna Behdar

Hi everyone! My name is Rahna and I completed a BSW student placement at Kawartha World Issue Center (KWIC). I am currently a third year student in the Bachelor of Social Work program at Trent University. Working on the Climate Action project, I have had the opportunity to focus on youth community involvement and educational programming around climate action and justice specifically in Nogojiwanong/ Peterborough and showcasing youth actions and voices.

Sam Rockbrune

Hi All! My name is Sam (she/her) and I am the Project Manager for the Nogojiwanong Youth Climate Action Hub project and the Executive Director at Kawartha World Issues Centre. I am a racialized, young woman and I am passionate about creating a more equitable and just world and empowering youth leaders. I approach my climate action and justice work through an intersectional lens, as much of my academic and social justice experience has been done in anti-sexual violence and gender-based violence movements.
