Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop was a smart and generous leader who impacted the lives of many children. She knew that education was the key to success and also understood that her responsibility as a Hawaiian aliʻi was to serve her people. Upon her passing in 1884, she founded the Kamehameha Schools to educate Native Hawaiian boys and girls for generations to come.
