BEFORE YOU START YOUR UPDATE:
PLUG IN YOUR LAPTOP
MAKE SURE WIFI & GLOBAL PROTECT ARE CONNECTED
QUIT OUT OF ALL OTHER APPLICATIONS
Closing the window by clicking on the red dot in the corner is not quitting the application. Make sure to quit by selecting the application name at the top left and click on the quit option at the bottom of the dropdown.
YOUR UPDATE WILL TAKE ROUGHLY 20-30 MINS., MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT UPDATE DURING CLASS.
When you see this 👉🏽, it's time for an update. PLEASE NOTICE:
• The current OS (Operating System) you are on
• The required OS you need to update to
• How many days you have left to complete the update
Click on the Update Device button and it will take you the Software Update Window.
NOTE: If you need to "defer" (delay) the update for now, you can find the update window at any time in your System Settings > General > Software Update. This is the same window that the nudge will take you to.
If you miss the deadline, this Update Nudge screen will continue to pop up and you will not be able to easily remove it from your screen.
Whether you click the "Update Device" button on the nudge window or go through your "System Settings" on your own, you'll see this window.
DO NOT click on the "Upgrade Now" button.
Look below and click on "More Info..."
This window will open up and show you the updates available for you to install. This should match the Required OS you noticed in step #1, on the nudge window.
Once you've checked that they match, click
"Install Now."
If they don't match, email Mrs. Ortiz for help.
You should be asked to type in your password. After you have entered your password, your update should begin loading and restart on its own.
Keep your laptop plugged in and your screen open. After about 30 minutes or less, your laptop should restart and allow you to log back in when it's done.
If your update takes longer than an hour, just close your laptop and contact Mrs. Ortiz for help.
Report any error messages or a locked screen to Mrs. Ortiz if you have an issue installing your update.
