Professional Development Certificates for ECE Teachers
Early Childhood Educators who attend the He Aliʻi Ka ʻĀina Educator Conference may request a Professional Development Certificate to support their DHS licensing requirements.
Certificates will reflect the sessions you attended, the number of hours, and the applicable ASK Core Areas (Attitudes, Skills, and Knowledge standards adopted by DHS).
Important for DHS credit:
• Each 1.5 hours of training = 1 ASK Core Area.
• Most workshops are 1 hour each. To meet DHS requirements, you will need to combine at least two related sessions in the same ASK Core Area.
• Many sessions naturally cross into multiple ASK Core Areas. For example, “Cultivating Aloha ʻĀina in Young Children” (PLE, GD, WF) could also connect to OA (through kilo/observation) and HSN (outdoor safety). Pairing this session with another coded for PLE would give you the 1.5 hours needed for that area.
You have flexibility in how you combine sessions across the two conference days to reach the required 1.5-hour minimum.
To request a certificate, check the box on the conference evaluation form at the end of the event. Your individualized certificate will be emailed as a PDF after the conference.
Certificates are intended to accompany DHS Form 2 (Professional Development Training Reflection) when you submit to PATCH/DHS.
