FAQs ABOUT POST SECONDARY

  1. How do I apply to College?

Go to https://www.ontariocolleges.ca/en where you can apply to College.

  • You can begin your application in early October. (No PIN# required.)

  • Use a personal email address, NOT a BHS address. This will become your username.

  • Your application saves as it goes, so it's a good idea to start it sooner than later!

  • Another feature of this site is that you can use it as a research tool. Search by Program or by College. https://www.ontariocolleges.ca/en/programs

2. How do I apply to University?

Go to https://www.ouac.on.ca/ where you can start the application process. Use the 'Undergrad 101' application.

  • This year your PIN numbers will be delivered directly to your homes. (You won't be able to start an account until you receive it.)

  • You should receive your PIN # by the end of October or early November.

  • Please ensure your home address is accurate in our system, since this is what we share with OUAC.

3. Where can I find more information about University Programs?

'Ontario Universities Info' is a comprehensive site for all Ontario University programs.

  • Search by program or university.

  • Find averages required by program/by university.

  • Find prerequiste courses needed for specific programs & more.

4. Where do I find scholarship/award opportunities?

5. Can I start at College and bridge to University later?

Absolutely! Colleges and Universities have created more and more opportunities for students to begin with a College program, which bridges over to a related University program.

  • Students choosing this pathway earn a College diploma AND a University degree.

  • There are many 2 + 2 programs available. 2 years of College + 2 years of University.

  • Earning a diploma and degree makes you very marketable!

6. Will I need 40 hours of Community Service Hours to graduate this year?

Students who will be graduating in June 2022, will only need 20 hours of community service.

7. When can I meet with a Guidance Counsellor to work on my application?

Virtual Drop-In Sessions

  • College Bound Students -- We will be running a few virtual sessions to help you with your College Application in a couple of weeks.

  • University Bound Students -- We will be running virtual sessions to help you with your University Application once you receive your PIN # in early November.
