Destination Reading
At KPJS we teach reading through Destination Reading.
Destination Reader is a pedagogical based approach to teaching reading through engaging daily, structured sessions.
It has meant all children have a focussed reading lesson every day
The programme supports children to read with greater understanding, enjoyment and purpose.
KPJS's last OFSTED report praised the programme as it has had a positive impact on reading across the school.
Interactive lessons with clear modelling and discussion to develop comprehension
Learning behaviours to ensure supportive and purposeful partner talk
Teaching and modelling of written comprehension strategies to build active readers who can interpret questions
